In the group on biogeographical modelling we are interested in the mechanisms that determine the distribution and abundance of organisms at various spatial scales. A particular focus lies on the interplay of species traits, dynamic processes like dispersal, and environmental conditions.
We employ a wide range of modelling approaches, from process-oriented, individual based models to more traditional, phenomenological statistical methods. Specific attention is directed towards combining the strengths of process-based simulation models and statistical data analysis using Bayesian methods.
